For those just checking out my work, I cut my teeth at Lincoln Speedway in Central Pennsylvania the past several years before relocating to Iowa, and it was great to return and see some familiar faces and watch some friends race. I always like getting creative in Pennsylvania, because as a photographer, it’s very competitive and it seems as though there’s alot more photographers in this area, than what is present at most of the other events I cover on a consistent basis.
Having more photographers shooting at the same track, I personally like – It forces you to become more creative or look for a creative edge in your work to differentiate from everyone else.
Generally, my rule of thumb is “Go where they aren’t”. What I mean by this is, if you see 20 photographer’s all outside of turn 2, chances are their photos will all look the same or extremely similar. I like venturing to another turn or location around the track, to get something different. Giving a slightly different story, for fans to look at.
