LINCOLN, Nebraska (December 20th, 2023) - South Dakota’s own, Brant O’Banion, driver of the Team Jack Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research and Mark Burch Motorsports’ final Chili Bowl entry will be will be contending for Rookie of the Year honors and chasing the Golden Driller in Tulsa, Oklahoma in January 2024.

The Chili Bowl Nationals presented by NOS Energy Drink; known as the Super Bowl of racing, paying $20,000 to the winner; is held at the Tulsa SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Chili Bowl Nationals format is calculated by qualifying points; where each driver receives points through passing in their heat races to line up the final day of racing. Teams will look to race through the alphabet in hopes of winning the prestige Golden Driller trophy on the final evening of competition. The famed Chili Bowl has a long-standing history in grassroots racing dating back to 1987. Currently, there are 300 entries (12.14.2023), from across the United States signed up to compete.

“I have never raced at the Chili Bowl and am stepping out of my comfort zone; racing in a division that I don’t have much experience competing in. I am ready to gain knowledge and lean on my teammates through the week for their support and learn as much as I can. I am excited to compete in the 2024 Chili Bowl and to enjoy the experience. I want to put in good, solid laps to work on becoming a better racer and driver against the tough level of competition that is going to be racing,” said O’Banion. “As a competitor, I am always out there to compete to the best of my ability and go for the win, but with this being my first time racing the Chili Bowl and only my second time racing a midget, I would like to finish in the top half of the field and contend for Chili Bowl Rookie of the Year honors,” said O’Banion.

“We are excited to have Brant joining us for his rookie debut at the 2024 Chili Bowl. Brant has worked closely with our friend and former driver, Danny Lasoski in 2023. Brant has a great work ethic and is an up-and-coming driver in mostly winged 360 racing here in the Midwest,” said Burch on working with O’Banion.

”The Chili Bowl has provided an incredible amount of exposure for the Team Jack Foundation. Last year, by sheer chance, we were able to place a family with a child suffering from brain cancer with the Team Jack Foundation. It’s been a blessing to have the support of Team Jack as we continue to fight to raise money for research to help these kids.”, said Burch on the importance of raising awareness and money for the Team Jack Foundation during this year’s Chili Bowl. “Team Jack is also giving you a chance to win a 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2-Door Convertible when you donate to this cause. If you are interested in donating to help children suffering from brain cancer and aid in the research, you can donate at the TeamJackFoundation.org.

The 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals will officially kick off at the Tulsa Sagenet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, January 8th, 2024. Brant O’Banion will race his preliminary night on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. For a closer look at the full schedule, please visit Chili Bowl online at www.chilibowl.com
