Don Droud Jr. pursues Golden Driller at 2024 Chili Bowl with Mark Burch Motorsports

LINCOLN, Nebraska (December 18th, 2023) - The 2018 Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame inductee, Don Droud Jr. will pilot the Team Jack Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research and Mark Burch Motorsports Chili Bowl entry for a chance at winning a famed Golden Driller in Tulsa, Oklahoma in January 2024.
The Chili Bowl Nationals presented by NOS Energy Drink; known as the Super Bowl of racing, paying $20,000 to the winner; is held at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Chili Bowl Nationals format is calculated by qualifying points; where each driver receives points through passing in their heat races to line up the final day of racing. Teams will look to race through the alphabet in hopes of winning the prestige Golden Driller trophy on the final evening of competition. The famed Chili Bowl has a long-standing history in grassroots racing dating back to 1987. Currently, there are 300 entries (12.14.2023), from across the United States signed up to compete.
“My expectations are simply to do the best I can on the track, be a good teammate to the young drivers on our team and represent Team Jack and Mark Burch Motorsports at a high level. I’d like to take advantage of situations to get to the front and stay there. I also want to maximize the time I have working with Mark to better our Midget program for 2024,” said Droud Jr. on the opportunity.
“Although occasionally overlooked and underrated throughout his storied career, Don Droud Jr is one of the most committed and hard-working racers you will ever encounter both on and off the track. He was inducted into the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2018, and I am proud to call him both my friend, “brother”, and driver. While we are working on our first elusive midget racing win for our team, “Jr.” has won in every discipline of motorsports he has seriously competed in. That long list would include motorcycles, stock-cars, midgets, winged 360 sprints, winged 410 sprints and non-wing 410 sprint cars. He is a great teacher to our team drivers and our communication level as driver and crew chief is at an all-time high. I look forward to every time we get to race together and each year it starts with Chili Bowl,” said Burch on his excitement to work Droud Jr.
The 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals will officially kick off at the Tulsa Arena in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, January 8th, 2024. Droud Jr. will race his preliminary night on Friday, January 12th, 2024. For a closer look at the full schedule, please visit Chili Bowl online at www.chilibowl.com.
